The first stop on the tour is the historic fisherman village of Marken, just north of Amsterdam. A bit of history is explained here, and then a stop at the local café where you can get to know your fellow tour mates over Dutch Apple pie.
The next stop is the wooden shoe and cheese farm. Take a private tour of how each of these iconic Dutch products are made, followed by a cheese tasting. Then we go to a traditional sawmill where wood is produced, just as in olden days – as in the 16th century! If the weather is bad, no problem! You will be inside mostly, and during the short times outside, rain gear is provided.
Along the way, there will be several of the famous Dutch windmills to visit. This is the perfect way to spend a day away from Amsterdam with personable and expert locals, and get to know real Dutch culture and people. Come join us!
